About us.The Association of Physicians of Tanzania (APHYTA) is a professional association of health workers who are interested in the practice of internal medicine in Tanzania . Internal medicine is a branch of medicine that deals with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases that affect the internal organs, such as the heart, lungs, kidneys, liver, etc.

Established in 1999.APHYTA was established in 1999 with the aim of improving and advancing the practice of internal medicine in Tanzania by promoting training, research, dissemination of scientific information, setting and maintaining professional standards, and advising the government and the public on matters related to internal medicine .

Treasurer-APHYTA A practicing clinical cardiologist with more than 15 years of experience. A graduate of the masters of science in cardiology from muhimbili (Sandwich program Norway-India). His main areas of interest are noninvasive cardiology and cardiac imaging, particularly in Echocardiography.

Elisha Osati
Member-APHYTA Doctor of medicine and an internal medicine graduate from the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences. He has mastery certificates in infectious diseases and leaderships from Dartmouth medical school and European school of management and Technology in Berlin. He is a PhD fellow in cardiopulmonary manifestations of COVID19 at MUHAS. Currently his a working physician at Muhimbili National Hospital and a honorary lecturer at MUHAS.

Faraja Chiwanga
Member-APHYTA Faraja Chiwanga is a medical doctor and researcher at the Muhimbili National Hospital in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She holds a Master of Medicine in Internal Medicine, Master of Science in Endocrinology & Diabetes and Master of Science in Public Health. Her research interests include non communicable diseases, eHealth and climate change and health. She has published more than 20 papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented her findings at national and international conferences. She is passionate about improving the quality and accessibility of health care in Tanzania and beyond. Her most recent publication was on consumption of processed food in four african populations.
